The idea was developed from a tattoo on my arm which says this statement. The quote is from an artist called Dan Eldon who worked in Somalia and made journals of his life and experiences in the country. His journals are full of imagery and tell the story of his life. I love the quote because its about you only end up in life by what youve done in your life. So if you work hard and never give up then you will reach your goal.
This links really well to the course as Duncan mentioned how the course is a journey and the students do so many things that benefit them and win them awards. We are going to make the year book into a story about the students experiences and journeys in the studio to the awards they then win from working hard and essentially getting things wrong and trying their best. The studio life is the journey and the awards and placements are the destination.
We had our meeting with Duncan on the 6th of March to discuss our idea for the concept. It went down a treat and he really liked the idea. We set some deadlines with him so we could gather all of the information needed from students and also the body copy for the year book so we could make a start on layout.
We are going to be using the help of Sophie's friend Jessie for the photography, shes a second year photography student whose work is amazing. Jessie will be taking photos of the students work, the studio and a group photo.
Here are the deadlines that we set:
- Body copy 6th March
- Student names 8th March
- Work to be photographed along with group photo 17th April
