Baked/ Muffin Menu

I needed to create a menu for the muffins in the shop and I have a range of flavours that will be available. The muffin shop itself isnt going to be huge, it will be a similar size to Johnnie Cupcakes in the Leeds Trinity Centre. I want to keep the design of the menu in line with the design of everything else, so I've tried to think of a clever way of making it.

Here are some initial ideas:

The idea was to keep it looking like an oven so that everything was consistent. This would be printed onto a big piece of vinyl and put up inside the shop. But I just think there is something not right about it. I would also rather have something that is physical that customers can look through as its more interactive and exciting. I want people to be able to interact with the brand.

This is another design that would be a physical thing that the customers could interact with. The idea is that its like any other menu where it has a front cover and then a list in the inside. I didnt want to make the menu multiple paged as I didnt feel it was necessary. The front of the menu again looks like an oven and it will be cut out just like the take out muffin boxes. The muffin list will then be strategically placed so that when the menu's closed it looks as though they are in the oven.

I also had a go at clear foiling/ spot varnishing the muffins in the menu to make them stand out but it didnt look right.

The net was taken from Special Packaging, it's actually the  net on the front cover. The reason I chose this net was very well considered. I wanted a cube net because I wanted to make mini ovens as the take out packaging. The ovens are to represent the baked side of the brand. The front of the boxes will be the oven fronts and they will have a window cut out that will represent the ovens door window, this will then be filled with acetate and the logo will be printed onto it.

The idea is that when a muffin is bought and put into the box, it looks as though it is in an oven, because you'll be able to see through the acetate. It also means that the logo printed onto the acetate will be branding the muffin thats in the box.

Brief

The brief is to create a range of take out packaging and shop material for a proposed cake shop called Baked. The shop specialises in a variety of baked, flavoured muffins.

Target Audience

The target audience for Baked is males and females between the ages of 16-30. I feel that the brand I am going to create caters to a large target audience. The main things that people look for when buying cakes is price, variety and presentation.

Deliverables

I will be producing small muffin take out boxes, a logo design, proposed shop signage, the muffins, menu, proposed staff uniform and promotional material.

Baked Logo/ Final design

I decided to change the logo from the previous post as there was something about it that just didnt work and I wasnt happy with it. I have now used elements of the initial logo designs to create this new one which I am much happier with. The muffin obviously represents the cake element and the word baked showing the brand name. I chose this particular typeface because it looked like a cake sponge and I think it works well with the silhouette of the muffin.

This is another variation of the logo to show it can work in various combinations. The logo is going to be applied to various different products so it was important that it is clear what the brand is and that when it is shrunk to a smaller size or enlarged, that it works.

This is the logo that I will be using primarily for this brief, its very simple and works well. This will be used for the shop front, cake labels, the packaging, proposed staff uniform and a few other things.

This is a proposal for the shop front for Baked. I wanted the exterior to stay in line with the muffin packaging of looking like an oven, with the different muffins 'baking' inside.
